With about 320,000 inhabitants, Brasov is centrally located in the Transylvania Region and is surrounded by the Southern Carpathian Mountains (Transylvanian Alps). A beautiful medieval city that boasts gothic, baroque and renaissance architecture, Brasov once linked the Ottoman Empire with Western Europe. The Main Square holds famous landmarks such as the Old Town Hall, The Black Church as well as renaissance-style buildings. The surrounding area features many quaint villages, a famous ski resort and many castles to explore.
