Our Italian Design workshop is held in the heart of Florence, Italy where participants will learn first-hand the world of Italian design. If you’ve always wanted to explore the scene of Florence and its art, experience its culture, and learn the art of Italian design, this Italian Design workshop will not disappoint! Come and feel the energy in Florence and walk in the footsteps of the famous artists, architects and scientists that helped shape the world as we know it. In 2016, for our 3-week course we will be adding 1 day in Milan! It is a chance to explore the architectural and design from the fashion capital of the world.
Fashion is a great source of inspiration for interior designers and Florence boasts a long tradition as well as an avant garde spirit of fashion. In this Italian Design workshop, students will be guided to investigate a famous fashion griffe starting from the analysis of its manufacturing, such as accessories and clothes, and to translate its philosophy into a space reflecting its particular atmosphere. The Italian Design workshop will include classes, visits and study time to work on a personal project. Visits to museums, studios and workshops and visits by special guests will introduce design students to the complexities of the development of the interior spaces, as well as an introduction to the culture of Italian interior design.
Students will also have a chance to do job shadowing while in Florence. Working on their projects, participants express their own creativity through sketches, drawings and models, the project will focus on the work of materials, surfaces, volumes, lights and colors. The Italian Design workshop’s objective is to define a universal method to tackle a design project in a personal way.
